 Veterans
The Veterans Unit is designed to meet the employment and training needs of veterans, especially veterans with significant barriers to employment (minority, Disabled Veterans, female, recently separated, and economically disadvantaged Veterans).
The veteran services that are available at WorkSource Vancouver Town Plaza are those services that are universally available to any customer who chooses to access the system with a methodology to ensure Veterans receive priority service in employment and training services, including job referral activities.
Although the term military “veteran” means different things to different people, WorkSource is mandated to serve the individuals who served on active duty in the Armed Forces for a period of more than 180 days and were discharged or released with other than a dishonorable discharge or were discharged or released from active duty because of a service connected disability. This includes Reserves and National Guard personnel who were mobilized for federal active duty.
The Veterans Unit staff are veterans, and stay in close touch with veterans organizations and resources that can help you. They can also arrange for an assessment of your skills and get you connected with special programs that can provide incentives for employers to hire veterans.
